10% of the world’s electricity is used to turn pumps.
And 50% of this is wasted.
I have been banging on about this since the year 2000.
Buying new pumps is cheap. Running them for 10 years is very expensive.
Example. Take a 10kw pump. Run it for 10 years at 10 hours per day. And let’s say 1 kilowatt hour costs 10 (pence, cents, use your own rate) 10kw x 10hrs x 365 days x 10 years x 0.1 (pound, dollar) = 36,500 (£ or $).
Plus, all maintenance. If 50% of this is waste what is happening across all of your pumps?
IF your pumps are, old, wrongly applied (wrong pump for the job), inefficient (most are), worn, incorrectly controlled, too big (most are), not matched to your system (most are not) the figures above just get worse and worse.
Quite literally your unloved pumps are costing the earth.
If you want to do your bit for our planet, let me know.
